Accessibility statement

We aim to make this portal usable for everyone, regardless of ability or assistive technology.

Last updated: 9 June 2026

1. Our commitment

The National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre is committed to ensuring the NCCC Convene portal is accessible to the widest possible audience, including delegates with visual, motor, auditory, and cognitive impairments. We design and build to the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and ISO/IEC 40500.

2. What we’ve built in

  • Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element on the portal is reachable via Tab, Shift+Tab, and Enter. A "Skip to content" link is the first focusable element on every page.
  • Visible focus indicators. Every focusable element shows a clear focus ring meeting the 3:1 contrast threshold.
  • Semantic structure. We use HTML landmarks (<header>, <main>, <nav>, <footer>) and proper heading hierarchy so screen readers can navigate the page logically.
  • Form labels & errors. Every form field has an associated <label>; errors are announced inline and not only by colour.
  • Colour contrast. Body text meets the 4.5:1 ratio; large text and UI components meet 3:1.
  • Resizable text. Body text can be scaled up to 200% without breaking the layout or losing functionality.
  • Image alternatives. Decorative images use aria-hidden; informative images include alt text.
  • Reduced motion. We avoid auto-playing video and minimise non-essential animation. Subtle transitions respect prefers-reduced-motion.
  • Mobile and zoom support. All pages reflow cleanly at narrow viewports and respect device pinch-to-zoom.
  • Plain language. We use clear, jargon-light copy on the public site and on registration confirmations.

3. Known limitations

We’re honest about gaps:

  • PDF badges generated by the platform are visual-only and may not be fully screen-reader-accessible. Accreditation staff can read your details aloud on request.
  • The QR scanner page relies on camera access and is not usable with screen readers. The hardware-scanner and manual-entry alternative on the same page is fully accessible.
  • Some user-supplied content (event descriptions, speaker bios, uploaded images) may not include alt text or follow heading hierarchy. We are working with event organisers to remediate.

4. Assistive technologies we test with

  • NVDA on Windows (Firefox & Chrome)
  • VoiceOver on macOS Safari and iOS Safari
  • TalkBack on Android Chrome
  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking (voice control)
  • OS-level zoom up to 400%
  • Forced-colours mode on Windows

5. Asking for help, or reporting a problem

If you encounter content or functionality that you cannot access, please tell us so we can fix it:

Email: accessibility@nccc.gov.ng
General support: appsupport@nccc.gov.ng

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 working days and to resolve or scope a fix within 10 working days.

6. Alternative arrangements at events

The registration form has fields for dietary requirements and accessibility requirements. Use the accessibility field to tell organisers about wheelchair access, sign-language interpretation, seating preferences, dietary needs not on the standard list, or any other accommodation. We share this with the venue ahead of time and confirm arrangements before you arrive.

7. Conformance review

This statement was reviewed against WCAG 2.1 Level AA on 9 June 2026. The next planned review is within 12 months, or sooner if substantial portal changes are made.
